Joe,
Thank you for responding. The message was one that I had actually posted to someone on the Hurt message board.Genealogy.com urged me to post the message to other boards that may also have something to do with the people and places I wrote about!I know, kinda confusing!
I have the death record for John M. Hurt from the 1850 mortality schedule that was done for the people who died in the year before a Federal Census. It states that he was 31 years old and died of Typhoid in Oct. 1849.
I have come across information on this family as I am looking for a William Samuel Hurt b. 1843 in VA. who married Martha Jane Belcher. They are my gg-grandparents.I have yet to find his family. After researching for two years for this, I came back to this family and am looking for information to see if John M.Hurt & Louisa M. Mcguire's son William is my William!!Everything sure fits!!But still need some proof, anything.I know lots of records were lost in the Civil War.I have run into that wall several times.I do know that William's brother Thurston ended up in Missouri.Found a link for a family bible that has John M. Hurt and Louisa M. Mcguire married and John having died 1847? Russel County VA.I had not seen in any of the family trees I have come across with these people together as a family. My William Samuel Hurt and Martha lived in Beaver Pond West Virginia.Have them on several census records.Martha's father James C. Belcher was a half brother to a Nancy Belcher who married a Benjamin Prince who was I think a grandson of Chapman Spotts. This gives Martha Belcher a connection to this family and Louisa's son William.I'll just keep searching!!Thanks for your help and insight.
