Re: I'm a McHugh from Glasgow,Scotland
The McHughs I'm researching came to Glasgow from the Castlederg area of Co. Tyrone, where there seemed to be quite a number of McHughs. Still a bunch there now too. They arrived sometime between the 1871 and the 1881 census. At this point I've been slowly tracing forward in time hoping to find descendants who may be able to help me with my research on that family which came to Glasgow, that of James McHugh, a blacksmith, and his wife Mary Dobbins McHugh, as I am descended from Mary's father Thomas Dobbins, who settled in New Brunswick (without Mary or her mother) and had another family altogether.
