Burnard/Bernard McInaw 1860-1870ish in Georgia born Scotland
Hi. I'm the first to post on this list, so perhaps there aren't many McInaws around.
I am not certain if my g-aunt's husband's surname was spelled this way or not.
Included on a Georgia 1870 census at the home of Elizah (Eliza) Jordan is her daughter Ella (Stanfield). Ella is married to Burnard/Bernard Mc___. It looks to be Mcinah, but that may just be the way the ennumerator spelled the name. Burnard/Burnard was born in Scotland according to the census record. It also shows that he and Ella Stanfield were married in approximately 1868-1869. They have an eight month old son M H/Matt? listed on the census.
Bernard's age is shown as 32 so he would have been born around 1836. I do not know when he came to the United States or to Georgia (if indeed that is where he and Ella married--the Jordan/Stanfield group lived in Neshoba Springs, Neshoba (sp?)Co, Mississippi for a while. They are there for the 1860 census.
Ella was born in 1853. The 1860 census shows that she and her twin sister Emma were born in Arkansas (I think), but all the other census records concerning Emma state they were born in Georgia.
Are there any McInaw members that might have this family in their line?? My cousin and I are having a hard time finding this couple after the 1870 census because we are not sure of the actual surname/spelling.Thank you. Sue
