Thomas B. McKinstry Fairfield County SC married three times

Jane C. Hinnant, d/o Josiah Hinnant and Margaret Susannah Kennedy, was the second of three wives of Dr. Thomas B. McKinstry (1837-1908). His first wife was Emma F. LNU (1838-1867). McKinstry had three children by Emma: Carrie, Samuel A. and William S. McKinstry. Jane C. Hinnant became McKinstry's second wife before 1876 and died before 1888. During that time she had four children by Dr. McKinstry, James, Dick, Walter and Ola Bell. Afterwards McKinstry married his third wife Mary Wylie in 1888, and has one son William Wylie McKinstry in 1889.

The 1900 Census shows that McKinstry married Mary Wylie in 1888 and that the other FOUR children, James, Dick, Walter and Ola Bell, were all born between the deaths of the first wife, Emma F. in 1867 and McKinstry's marriage to his third wife, Mary in 1888.

My grandfather, James Alexander Smith, Sr.(1912-2000) stated to me many times that his Cousin Ola and his Cousin Walter's mother was Jane C. Hinnant, sister of his grandmother, Sallie Delilah Hinnant McConnell (1847-1931).
