Cornelius McNally of Calumet Island, Quebec
I am looking for any information on the arrival of Cornelius McNally in America, or information about their stays in either Missouri or Michigan. All we know is that he emigrated fom Missouri up to Michigan, and subsequently up to Canada (in Calumet Island, Quebec - a small farming communityup the Ottawa River, up from Ottawa, Ontario).I am assuming that if he and his family worked for some time in Missouri, they obviously must have arrived through the port of New Orleans.Anyway, here are the details:
Cornelius McNally, born in Killeavey, or Upper Killeavey, County Armagh, Ireland, around 1767, married Mary Hanratty, and had 6 children.Catherine (b 1821), Paul (b 1823, Lawrence (b 1825), Simon (b 1827), Nicholas (b 1829) and lastly Cornelius (b 1833).This latter Cornelius was born in Michigan.
Cornelius and his entire family emigrated from Missouri up to Michigan after spending a year or so there.
Catherine married Parker Owen in Michigan, but eventually moved out to the Dakotas.Cornelius the Elder settled on Calumet Island, in Pontiac County Quebec, Canada. Nicholas, his fourth son, married a Mary McVeigh and they had five children; sometime after 1865, Nicholas and his family moved to Virginia.
Mary Hanratty died and was buried on Calumet Island in 1843.
Thanks
Mike McNally
