Quebec MCNICOL, HELP (first in canada?)
Duncan Mac Nicoll (sometimes duncan is Agapit or Dominique)
Married catherine Mac Nicoll.
Although it is sometimes thought that mc nicoll was catherines maiden name and duncan was "duncan's" last name.
But none of this is comfirmed.
But anyways. He came to canada (Malbaie)at the conquest.
I, along as the authors from a few books i looked at, think he came during the conquest. So he was most likely a soldier (78th frasers?). A friend of his, John Nairne was a major in the "53rd royal infantry of his majesty" or somethin. Im not too sure, i have had trouble searching it.
I know for sure it was the 53rd (then something).
So is there a list of all the soldiers who came to new france to fight?
Or a list from avery soldier who ever served for X regiment?
This man is pretty much the "father" of all Quebec Mcnicoll (im not one myself, but i came across him in my tree).
So if anyone has info, please reply or e-mail me!
If you need more info i can write more, what you need and all.
He came around 1760.
thanks in advance.
