Re: Rachel McNeil 1857 St Peters Prince Edward N.S.
Thank you for the information about Rachel McNeil it fills in some of the gaps.
My greatgrandfather was in the British Armed forces and perhaps thats how they got around. I was not aware of a first born son Jonn born 1876 and have no mention on any of the census reports perhaps he died or stayed with relatives when Jon and Rachel moved to Ireland and subsiquently had a daughter Mary born 1878 Cork Ireland followed by another daughter Margaret 1879-1942. From there they moved to Aldershot Hants England and had son Alfred James 1881-1909 (my greatgrandfather still being in the armed forces as on Alfreds birth certificate it has fathers proffession as 1st Batallion Royal Irish Fusiliers).
They then moved to a town called Prestwich England had another daughter Elizabeth 1884-1937. Non of the daughters married.
Next child Hubert 1887-1937 born Radcliffe England followed by son John Dawson 1889-1904, and finally Thomas Henry 1897-1960. I think there may have been more but unfortunatly Rachel McNeil died suddenly 1899 from Influenza (flu). This may be a factor why thr girlsnever married because mother died leaving small children and father working all the time. John burke Rachels husband died 1924. I have located graves for all these people is anyone wanted the info.
Thanks again for the info on Rachel it has now given be further leads like what happened to their first born and also where pople lived both in Canada and now Scotland. If you do get any more info can you let me know.
