Nils Bergström b. 1841 Ransäter, Värmland, Sweden
Hi !
I'm looking for information about Nils Andersson Bergström, b. July 26, 1841, in Ransäter parish, Värmland county, Sweden. In the church records his surname was Bergström and in the passenger lists they wrote Andersson. Nils was married to Britta Kajsa Jonasdotter, b. Aug 23, 1838, Ransäter, and they had a son called Johan, b. Sep 3, 1868, Ransäter. Britta Kajsa's mother Maria Lotta (or Charlotta) also travelled with them. According to an Emigration data base they left Göteborg, Sweden, on May 18, 1869. The destination was New York, but this is probably not correct since the group ended up in Kansas.
The family travelled with a group of people from the parishes of Sunnemo and Ransäter. The leader was the Lutheran Pastor Olof Olsson from Sunnemo, who founded the town of Lindsborg in Kansas with the help of this group. There is more information here:

The father of Britta Kajsa was Jonas Nilsson (1813- ), who also was born in Ransäter, Värmland.
In the data base Emigranten Populär 2006 there are two references to sources of information about Nils:
1. 0091869024 Andersson, Olof, Emigrantregistret, Karlstad.
2. Lund Emil "Iowa konf.av Aug. Syn.", page 681.
Unfortunately I live far way from Karlstad so I can't check the record about Olof, but I know that he and Nils travelled together. The second reference might indicate that the family at some moment lived in Iowa.
In another forum somebody told me that Nils died in Republic co, Kansas, in 1923, but nothing more is known about the family
Any information about Nils and Britta Kajsa, or any descendant of theirs, would be appreciated.
Regards,
/Lars Carlgren
