MAJ. or CAPT. SAMUEL MCPHERSON, Charles Co., Maryland

I am looking for information on Maj. or Capt. Samuel McPherson b. July 11, 1739 and died abt 1808.I find him listed in the 1800 census records as Major Samuel McPherson. Through my search I have found two wives listed:Elizabeth Goldsmith and Catherine Smoot or Smoote.

Elizabeth and Samuel has supposedly eight children:John, Sarah, Percival, Samuel, Thomas, Sally, Harry and Nellie.

Samuel Sr. and Catherine Smoot had two children:Richard and Robert H.Capt. Samuel is listed in the DAR Records.

My best guess is that Samuel b. 1739 might be the son of Alexander (c1711-1775) and Chloe Barnes.

Any information on this Samuel or his heirs, would be appreciated.
