John and Emma McPherson

Looking for information on John and Emma McPherson. . .in particular Emma's maiden name and her family geneology. We believe Emma was born around 1839-1841 in VA.They had a daughter named Rowena (and possibly more children) who married George Stewart from Scotland.Any information would be appreciated. We are already aware of the famous Rowena McPherson/George Stewart vs Virginia case. Rowena and George are my great grandparents so Emma and John would be my great-great grandparents. Emma was last recorded on the 1880 US Census as living in VA with George and Rowena as a widow and her age is recorded as 41.
