Ephraim Mc Queen, born NY 1 March 1798His grandparents had arrived from Scotland and settled near New York city. In 1803 the family including Ephraim moved to Montgomery Co., NY where his parents and grandparents died. His father had been born in Scotland and his mother in NY.Ephraim was a farmer who had an interest in a saw mill.The family removed to Palermo, Oswego Co., NY.The exact number of Ephraim's children needs research as does the name of his wife.
In the 1880 census Ephraim, farmer, age 82 and his son, Sanford, farmer, age 50 were in Palermo. sharing a household.Nearby lived Oscar Mc Queen, farmer, age 38, with wife, Harriet, age 44 and children: Fred E. age 7 and Clara J. age 3.All b. NY. Also in Palermo were James Mc Queen, farmer, age 42 with wife, Mary , age 29 and son, Howard, age 2.All b. NY.Mary's father was born in Vt.
Oscar was born on 14 June 1841.He married Harriet Jennings 27 Nov. 1871.Both of their children became school teachers.Oscar enlisted in Co. F, 147th NY Inf. on 26 Aug. 1862 until 6 Feb. 1863 when he was discharged because of illness.
James was born 5 November 1835.He had a profitable dairy farm.On 28 March 1872 he married Mary E. Preston.Jane, their daughter, was born after 1880.
