Hi Stuart

Unfortunately there is no easy way to do genealogy research, even using the web.You have to start with yourself and work backwards.Who were your parents, when and where were they born, where did they marry, then who were your grandparents? You have to keep working backwards, a step at a time. Ask all your living relatives for everything they remember about the family, and write it down.

Probably your McQueen forebears came from Scotland originally, but that might be many generations back, and they may have come from England, or Ireland. When you have found who your immigrant ancestors were, you should get copies of their death certificates from the Tasmanian authorities. These should tell you when and where they were born, then you can start thinking about how to findthem in Scotland, or wherever they came from. There are ways to do this, but there is little point trying to use shortcuts at this stage.

My McQueen ancestor was Katharine, born in 1788 on a farm called The Heads, in the parish of Kilmadock, county of Perth, Scotland, so we are not likely to be related, but I wish you luck in your quest.
