Stuart - I should have contacted you earlier, but here's a hint in your search.My surname is McEwen, but during my search for ancestors, I discovered the name was originally McQueen and had been changed in 1828 when my g.grandfather was born and his name was registered as McEwan, even though his parent's were shown as McQueen.So be sure to check all possible spellings.
