My research notes re: Thomas Hawbeard.
Was reported a casualty (wounded) in Battle of Paoli, American Revolution War, Sept 20, 1777, Paoli, Pa(www.ushistory.org/paoli/historycasualities.htm)
Enumerated in 1800 Census of Pennsylvania as residing in Bucks County Pa(Pa 1800 Census Index Book)
Did not review microfilm image for “Head of Household “listing to determine if any pertinent family data was recorded.
Before 1818, Thomas Hawbeard purchased 158.49 acres of land: Range 15, Township.18, Section 12, NE ¼, in Newton Township of Muskingum County, Ohio(A Listing of Entrymen on Lands in Muskingum Co., Ohio, Page 53, by L. Richard Kocher, 459 Ross Rd Columbus OH 43213-1953. Published by Woolkoch Publishing, same address)
Revolutionary War Soldier, Hawsbeard, Thomas or Thomas Hawbeard, S41609, PA Line, applied 4 May 1818 Muskingum Co OH, in 1820 he was aged 76 & stated he had no family & lived among friends.
(Genealogical Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Files. Abstracted by Virgil D. White, published by The National Historical Publishing Co. Waynesboro, TN,1991)
Have not reviewed his Pension file #S41609.
February 12, 1822, Thomas Hawbeard sold his158.49 acres of land to Thomas Williams of Muskingum Co, Ohio, for $1000.
(Muskingum Co. Ohio, Recorder’s Office, Volume G - Page 450)
Observation:
1820 - Thomas Hawbeard, age 76, stated in his pension application that he had no family and lived with friends.
1828 - Thomas Hawbeard, in his will, bequeaths $1.00 each to his three daughters: Elizabeth, Sarah, & Polly. No mention of age or guardianship. Are we to assume they are unmarried adults?
Was he married before 1820? Or did he marry after 1820?
Was he disabled, because of his military service wound, and required assisted living from friends?
What was his relationship to Minor McQueen?Family or just a Friend?
Is this the Minor McQueen that purchased 80 acres of land in Fallsbury Township, Licking County, Ohio, dated February 10, 1831, per Rhoda H.Wilson, Researcher of Minor McQueen’s descendants?
Can we find a timeline that connects the bits and pieces of information, that we all are gathering, to form some logical conclusions from our research of Minor McQueen’s ancestry?
A big puzzlement!………..Yes.Need more research?………….Yes
