McQueen - SC -> LA -> MS
Hi everyone!It has been a couple of years since I posted, so I figured I would try again!
My 4th great-grandfather is Peter McQueen, b. abt. 1795 in South Carolina, d. Fall of 1865 in Mississippi.He married Elizabeth Freeland in 1820 in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana.They divorced in 1838 in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, though he wasn't presen for the divorce.He is found in 1840 living in Marshall County, Mississippi until his death.His (known) children were : Louisa (married a Cottrell, then an Elder), Melissa (died young in 1851), and Caroline, my 3rd great-grandmother, died prior to 1860).
Peter had a sister named Ann McQueen, b. 22 Sept 1793 in SC, d. 10 Nov 1834 in Meriwether County Georgia.She married Stephen Wood of Virginia, date and location of marriage unknown.They had the following children: William H (died in 1868), George W (died at Gettysburg), James M(died 1890), Mary Ann (died 1919 in Marshall County, Mississippi...Peter left her his estate when he died rather than his own daughter), and Virginia (also died 1919, but in Georgia).
I recently found a DNA match to a woman who can trace her McQueens from South Carolina to Daniel McQueen and Ruth jenkins (I believe I have those names correct), through their son John, his son John (Jack), his daughter Margaret (who, interestingly enough, married a Cottrell in Alabama).
I have written extensively on my blog (http://www.diggingupyourfamily.com/mcqueen-family/) about what I know of Peter and his sister Ann, however I am unable to figure out who their parents are.I am hoping that someone out there can help me.So far I have been unable to find their names inconnection with any other McQueens that were in South Carolina at the times of their births, however I don't know if Peter and Ann maybe have been middle names, first names, or nicknames.
Please, PLEASE, can anyone out there help?
I appreciate it! :)
