Re: John McShea Born 1830 NY to IL 1860
My Great,Great Grandfather was Michael McShea who married Mary Fox.From what I have found out, he came to America from Ireland with his brother John in 1841. According to a 1880 census, Michael McShea was 51-which would make him born in 1829 & from what I have read-In Kings, Ireland.
I'm thinking John was born around the same date.
Per another great, great, granddaughter of Michael, "My aunt tells me he and his brother John came to the U.S. together and each bought a farm near Rochester, NY. When Michael left for IA in 1857, other members of the family bought his land and some of John's descendants still live there. Much of the farm was taken over for commercial use but Marguerite McShea, granddaughter of John, lives there in the old home."
Michael McShea had 11 children: This was the information given per the 1880 census.
