From whatt I have read, it was my impression that Barnabas the elder (died 1824) may have been a brother of Patrick (based on the work of Thomas C. McSherry, Adams Co. Historical Society, April 1, 1947...Thomas does not give his evidence for this however).
Your supposition about the children of William is the same as mine...but also apparently without direct proof.
I also have a letter to James McSherry (1776-1849) written by Barney McSherry of Montgomery County in 1834. In it, he refers to James as "respected uncal [uncle]" Any idea who this Barney is?
I am descended from Joseph McSherry ("orphan," 1793-1872) of the Airville McSherry line. William and Frederick are names that appear in our branch, and am looking for more evidence that may tie us into the other Frederick/William line.
