Thank you for the McWhirt family information that pertains to my g-g-grandmother, Martha Julia "McWhirt" Malone.
I noticed Martha's older brother,John, was in the U.S. Regular 18th Regiment, Company "E", during the Civil War. I also have a relative on the paternal side of my family that enlisted in the same 18th Regiment, Company "E", of the U.S. Regulars. His name was William Baglin Jr. and he was killed in action on Dec. 31st, 1862, at the Battle of Stone River, near Murfeesboro, Tennessee. Private Baglin was my g-grandmother's oldest brother. I was unaware of any enlistment for the U.S. Regulars occurring in Chillicothe. I assumed he enlisted in Columbus, Ohio. Possibly you could shed some light on this.
I was also interested if you have any earlier information on the McWhirt or Ballard family from Spotsylvania Co., Va. Possibly any Revolutionary Patriots. Also any passenger ship arrivals etc. I do know that my Malone relatives were Irish.
