Re: Meador Name Origin?
Source: Our Meador Families in Colonial America by Victor P. and Bernal M. Meador.
There are several references to Thomas Meads in Lancaster Co. VA. His name is spelled in several ways in different documents (Meads, Meades, Meader). The will from which much information is gotten, is a copy of a copy and thus not
the original handwriting. Early day penmanship often is hard to decipher and many letters are hard to distinguish from others. This Thomas appears most frequently as MEADS but present day ancestors have adopted the spelling of
Meador...nevertheless, this is the earliest known Meador of our line.
Does this help a little?
