I will post the text that accompanies the family crest..It describes in great detail the particular parts and their meanings. I don't have a soft copy of the papers so I can't post the crest image. The crest is English so when, and how, Thomas Sr. went to England from the Netherlands I haven't found out yet.

It is possible that Thomas went in some form of military service. At this time in history the Dutch were in rebellion against Phillip II of Spain, the son of Louis XIV (Thirty Years War). The English were strong allies.

If anyone is interested I will make copies of the records I have.. I was able to trace my lineage straight to Thomas Meador Sr. for my sons -11 generations, they are the twelfth. I have documentation for a whole branch of the family.

My particular branch lived mostly in Eastern Va not far from Fredericksburg VA until the 19th Century when some split off and moved to Marion County Illinois. I inherited papers that show the transfer of slaves and property as well as marriages and deaths. Interesting stuff but not entirely complete. I got the papers from cousins in Illinois (the Scott and Calhoun families)
