Hi to all the US Mee's in Virginia. I myself am a Mee resident in Roscommon Ireland so very interested to read the correspondence. Mee is not a very common name in Ireland but most Irish Mee's either live or can trace their origins back to South Roscommon / East Galway, both counties located in the Western part of Ireland. My own family origins are in a village called Kilbegnet near Creggs on the Roscommon / Galway border. After the Great Famine in 1845 - 1849 , Landlords cleared the lands of their many tenants and my forebears were moved on to a neighbouring parish Oran in Roscommon. My Great Grand Father was a John Mee and had a son called Thomas Mee. Thomas Mee emigrated to London in late 1800's , did well and returned to Ireland and bought a farm in an areacalled Four Roads(Tisrara) at the turn of the 20th century. We have lived in this area since. Let me know if you have any other bits of information on your Mee antecedents in Roscommon and I can see if there is any link.
