Hello Richard,
Mehelic with no 'H' at the end is the way it is spelled before coming to the US. Many times the name gained the 'H' when entering the US because that was how the name was heard by the people at Ellis Island etc.
The names also changed spellings depending on who used it. It was not uncommon for someone to change the 'e' to an 'i' as in Mehelic. So when you are researching keep that in mind, that your family could be under any variations of the name (Mihilic, Mihelic, Mihilec...etc)
Where in Austria/Yugoslavia did your family come from? What do you know about your family to this point?
Let me know if I can help.
