Most Cherokee I have seen don't look Indian to me and neither do many Lumbee I have seen, although i would say some do have a moderate degree of Indian blood..When I said that the real Indians don't get gray hair what I really meant was the original ones didnt and that the less mixed ones from what I can see don't. Being a "tribal member" doesn't say much about ones recent ancestry, so yes it does depend on your genes and what people they came from.
Of course Native Americans also didn't have kinky hair for the most part.
I know Lumbee claim Indian ancestry and their genes have probably been diluted thru mixing with other groups like so many originally Indian people.
