I too am trying to sort out my ancestors.My maternal grandmother was Ethel Alvina Merkley (b)3/11/1919 in Clayton, WI.Her mother was Alvina Rucks and married to Edward Merkley (who worked for Ford Motors) (b)CA 1895.If you have seen any of these names on a Merkley Family Tree, please let me know.We know very little about these folks.Alvina did leave Edward and remarried a man named Otto Hornig, nicknamed "Babe". They ran a hotel called the Arrowhead Hotel in Grand Marais, MN.I have found their gravestones and a photo of that hotel in Grand Marais.
