MA & CT MERRITTS migration to Hudson River Valley mid 17th century

By Willard Saunders September 26, 2011 at 10:23:16

" During the later part of the 17th century pioneers began to move west along the Old Connecticut Path from Boston, through Worcester and Springfield, Massachusetts while other groups migrated from Hartford, CT, to Dutchess County, NY, then northwest to Albany along the Greenwood Road. During this same time period the early Hudson River settlements also reached north to Albany."

Of particular interest is the Merritt family. Susanna Merritt married William Legg, Ulster County, NY 27 Jan 1677. Need parents of Susanna Merritt.

I have books on Ulster Co., NY with information about which Merrits did sign, and other Merritts did not sign the 'Articles of Association' -the 'Revolutionary Pledge' (1776).
