Mesa FamilyRoots from Glendale/Cottonwood, Arizona
Hi, to all the Mesa's out there.
My name is Kathy and I'm 40 years old.I am trying to trace my family (father's) history back to Arizona. My father's name is Jesus Angel Mesa and my grandfather name is Jose Jesus Mesa and my grandmother's name was Margarita Chavez Mesa.My grandparents were married in Clemenceau, AZ.My grandparents had five children their names are Robert Edward Mesa, Jesus Angel Mesa, Olga Mesa, Ophelia Mesa, and Humberto Mesa. They were all born in Glendale or Cottonwood (Previously known as Clemenceau). I believe all my grandfather's family (Mesa's) were all from Arizona. My grandfather had I believe two sisters and one brother who is my only great-uncle left named Daniel Mesa.I think one of his sister's names were Mary.
The reason I writing is to trace my American Indian Heritage. My father has told be that we are of APACHE blood. My grandfather, father, uncles and aunts all have strong Indian features.I myself have strong Indian features.I remember my great uncle Dan telling me a story of White Plains or White Mountain in Arizona. My last name as you can see is named MESA.Which that name tells it all ! Plus its all over Arizona.
I was born and raised in Pacoima, California which lies in the San Fernando Valley. My mother was born and raised were I was.My father came from Arizona when he was about 10 or 11 years old.
Cottonwood is in Northern Arizona and Glendale is in the Central part of Arizona.I think my grandparents left Cottonwood (when?) to reside in Glendale. All my father's brothers and sisters were born in Glendale( I think the oldest my have been born in Clemenceau).
I am so proud to carry the name Mesa and I would like to find out more about it and if I have strong ties to the Apache Nation.
So, if anyone could help me get started with my history and where it comes from, please e-mail back at [email protected]
