Hi Leslie
My Moody ancestors are all (at least for several generations) from Somerset and Wiltshire - the Smith family comes from Aberdeen but I have no idea just where my gggf was born or who were his parents.
Sometime before 1861 my great grandparents in Brantford township got new neighbours, Thomas Harrison Brown of Lincolnshire and his first wife Phoebe Connor (married 21 Nov 1859). In 1866 Thomas Brown married a second time to Grace Harvey, a cousin of my great grandmother - one of their sons Charles Reginald Brown, married a granddaughter of Thomas Henry Metcalf(e).
I have been trying to find out where in Lincolnshire Thomas Harrison Brown was born and one possibility I have found was born at Epworth, possibly to the family of William (Fotherby, Lincoln, c.1803) and Charlotte (Hull, Yorkshire, c.1811) Brown, who had in 1851 two other children, Eliza (Epworth, c.1841) and William (Aisby, c.1843). I also found two other possible children (visitors at Corringham) in 1851, Alice (Aisby, c.1845) and Mary A. (Gainsborough, c.1848)
So: I am wondering if
a) These Browns are all siblings
b) if Mary A. Brown became the wife of Thomas Henry Metcalf in 1867 as his parents were living at Epworth in 1841, i.e. the families might have known each other before coming to Canada
Without looking at several sets of PRs I will unlikely never know.
Peter
