PETER CHRISTENSEN, son of L.P. and MARIE CHRISTENSEN, was born in Scranton, Iowa, May l4, l894, and departed this life April 8, l925, in Leon, Iowa, at the age of 30 years, l0 months and 25 days. He moved with his parents to Guthrie County, Iowa, in l900.
In l9l7, he was married to MISS MINNIE NELSON, of Exira, Iowa. To this union two sons were born, LAWRENCE PETER and HARRY MILO, who preceded his father to the Great Beyond. He was drafted into the service of his country, September 24, l9l7, from Guthrie Center, Iowa, and was sent to Fort Flagler of Washington. The climate not agreeing with him, he contracted the terrible disease of tuberculosis, which caused his death.
He united in the faith of the Assembly of God in Leon, Iowa, in the spring of l923, living a faithful Christian life to his last hours. He leaves to mourn his departure, his loving wife, a son, his dear old father, his mother having preceded him in death in l903; three brothers, CHRIS CHRISTENSEN, of Audubon, Iowa; HARRY CHRISTENSEN, of Menlo, Iowa; CHARLEY CHRISTENSEN, of Guthrie Center, Iowa. Four sisters, MRS. AGNES CHRISTENSEN, of Leon, Iowa; MRS. ANNIE CHRISTENSEN, of Hamliln, Iowa; MRS. LILLIA LANE, of Varina, Iowa; MRS. MARY MICHAELSON, of Ridgeway, Mo.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at his home in Leon, Iowa, by his Pastor, Geo. R. Lamb. The text used found in 2 Tim. 4:6-8 "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand; I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous judge, shall give me, at that day; And not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.
Interment was in the Palestine Cemetery.
