Rachel Mickel and Thomas Jefferson Wineman
In my search for the details about Rachel Mickel/Michel, who married Thomas Jefferson Wineman in 1883 in Benton County, Indiana, I have put together a tentative family group as follows. If anyone can clarify, add to, correct, or explain any of the relationships I would be grateful.
Clinton Mickel (his full name may have been David Clinton Mickel) was born about 1830 in Ohio.He married Mary Ann ?, she may have been Mary Ann Wood.In 1860 they were living in Ross County, Ohio.In 1880 they were in Concord, Fayette County, Ohio.In 1900 they were living in Pickaway County, Ohio.Clinton Mickel died in Pickaway County on August 26, 1914.
The known children of Clinton and Mary Ann Mickel were:
1.Elijah Mickel, born about 1850
2.John Mickel, born about 1853
3.George Mickel, born about 1854
4.William Mickel, born about 1857
5.Elizabeth Mickel, born about 1859
6.Rachel Mickel, born about 1862
7.Morgan Mickel, born about 1864
8.Mary Jane Mickel, born about 1866
9.Rebecca Mickel, born 1870
10.James C. Mickle, born about 1874
According to the census information, all the children were born in Ohio.
John Mickel, child number 2, may have been John H. Mickel, born November 1854 in Ohio, who married a woman named Anna K.In 1900 John H. and Anna were living in Adams, Hamilton County, Indiana with their two children, Margie born June 1890 in Missouri, and Perry born June 1894 in Missouri.Anna K. Mickel died July 5, 1906 and was buried at the Justus West Cemetery in Oak Grove, Benton County, Indiana.John H. Mickel died in 1938 and was buried at the same cemetery. There are a number of other "Mickle" burials at that cemetery that I cannot identify.
John's and Anna's son Perry C. Mickel registered for the World War I draft and gave his full name as Perry Clinton Mickel born June 4, 1893 in Cameron, Missouri. At the time he was living in Sheridan, Indiana. He died November 1968 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His wife was named "Dorotha."
Child #5, Elizabeth Mickel, may have been the Elizabeth "Mickle" who married Samuel E. Yarger and who lived in Clinton County, Ohio.
Child #6, Rachel Mickel, may have been the one who married my Thomas Jefferson Wineman in 1883 in Benton County, Indiana (where John H. and Anna K. were buried).I need proof.Thomas and Rachel had two sons:John Clinton Wineman born 1885, and Willard Wineman born 1886.Both were allegedly born in Benton County, Indiana.
Child #8, Mary Jane Mickel, may have been the Mary Jane "Mickle" who married Joseph S. Yarger in 1889.
Child #10, James C. Mickel, lived in Monroe, Pickaway County, Ohio with his wife Alice at the time of the 1910 and 1920 censuses. In 1910 his father and mother, Clinton and Mary Ann Mickel, were living with them.James and Alice had at least five children:Herschel, Orville, Thelma, Lawrence, and Kenneth.James C. Mickel, whose full name may have been James Clinton Mickel, was born January 3, 1873 according to his World War I Draft information.
I know nothing about any of the other Mickle children born to (David) Clinton Mickle and Mary Ann (Wood?).
Again, any comments welcome.
