Hi Eric,
Thanks for your comments and thoughts.
Not sure why you think that the Richard Millerchip and Elizabeth Barkbey marriage is too late. I see they were married on 4.6.1787 at Exhall. I have a birthdate for Margaret (supplied by somebody else's professional researcher)of 1791....just 3 years after that marriage. Somewhere I came across an Ann (daughter of Richard M and Eliz) born in 1794....who could fit as a sister to Margaret.
On IGI I found 9 children chr between 1774 and 1817 in Bedworth, chn of Richard M and Eliz, but feel that these must constitute at least 2 or 3 separate families because of the age range. The only Ann was christened 2.10.1796 who perhaps fits with the researcher's Ann born in 1794.
The only Margaret was chr 2.10.1774 which is obviously from the earliest family.
Have you ever sorted out 3 x Richard/ Eliz families in Bedworth?
I've tentatively made 3 families out of the 9chn:
Family A
Margaret chr 1774
Hannah chr 1777
Family B
Thos chr 1787
Amy chr 1789
Eliz chr 1793 died 1794
Ann chr 1796
Eliz chr 1799
Family C
John
Richard- both chr 27.4.1817
I'd really like to discover that Family B had a Margaret b 1791 in that convenient little age gap between 1789 and 1793!
To clarify....
I have from the "expert".....
1) Richard Millerchip, died 1868, married to an Elizabeth of unknown surname.
2) Their daughter Margaret Millerchip b 1791 died 1868.
Margaret married Samuel Townsend 9.7.1809 so I can't put her birthdate back much before 1790.
I can't find any Millerchips on IGI for Broasely. Does it have no entries?
Regards
jan b
