Hi Robert,
I was pleasantly surprised tonight, for two reasons. One, this site was up and running(the last time I checked, there was not a Millhouse site)and two, your posting.
I am from Tassie, too.My gr gr gr gr grandfather was Richard Millhouse, christened November 5, 1796 and died in 1867, Victoria, Australia, aged 71.Richard married Henrietta Simpson, on May 9, 1820, in Spalding, Lincolnshire, England.Henrietta was born 1797, and died in 1862, Victoria, Australia, aged 67.
Off hand, I can't think of the why's and wherefore's, but Richard and his family, arrived in Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania, Australia, for the unknowing, who may be reading this), on July 4, 1842, aboard the 'Orleano'. Richard was a Collar and Harness maker, by trade.
Richard and Henrietta had 11 children, to my knowledge, and are as follows-:
Thomas Taylor, John, William, Richard William (my gr gr gr grandfather), Henrietta, Rowland, Emma, Alfred, Everett, Everard, and Ellen.
Richard William Millhouse, married Elizabeth Heath, and their third daughter, Emma Heath Millhouse, married William Howard. Emma and William's daughter, Priscilla May Howard, married Albert Ernest Hawkins, and their daughter, Beatrice Malvina Heath Hawkins, married Oscar Richard Edwards. My mother, Rosalie, was the third child of this union, and she married Charles Henry Martin. I am the fifth child of the union, and I have two children from my marriage.
If any of this seems relevent,I would love to hear from you.
Good luck with your search.
All the best,
Shari.
