Linda, I see no connection to "my" Millin family who were descendnts of James Millin born St Cuthberts, Edinburgh about 1820. After James died in SCL his wife and children migrated to NZ about 1870 Arrived in Dunedin, NZ on"Westland" on 21-04-1879 which departed Glasgow on 29-01-1879. He was described as a cloth finisher. He was not accompanied by any relatives.
He worked as a cloth finisher in a mill in Mosgiel, Dunedin for some years. From the places of birth of his children it appears he lived in Dunedin then by 1883 was at the suburb of Roslyn. In 1884 when his first wife Isobel died in 1884 he was living in Roslyn. He was living in the suburb of Sunnyside in 1885 when his eldestson James(from his first marriage) started school at Kaikorai. After his second marriage his son John was born in the suburb of Ashburton, then in 1886 his daughter Christina Mary Millin was born in Oamaru. His next son Willam was born in Timaru in 1890.
His eldest son James (from his first marriage) was enrolled on 06-02-1891 at Timaru Public School and the family's address was Wai-iti, Timaru. I am happy to help if you think there is a connection. My email is email@example.com at 20 Oct, 2011
