Roger,
I have some information I found from a visit to the Wayne County Historian Records and online Deeds for Galen, Seneca (Wayne), NY.
Repository: Wayne County Historian, Lyons, Wayne, NY.
Source: History of Lock Berlin, Wayne Co., NY, by Morrison, 1989, every odd pages 25-37 (even pages are blank).
This source says they came from Orange Co., NY (another one has Ulster Co., NY) around 1800 to Aurelius, Cayuga, NY and on to Galen in 1801.The three families containing 30 people; Nathaniel King, (Sr.), Isaac Mills (Sr.) and David Godfrey were the first families to settle in Galen.Isaac Mills’ wife Sarah King was a niece to Dr. Joseph Young (Rev War service) who sold Isaac 50 acres on Military Lot 70.Sarah King’s father was Samuel King late of Ulster Co., NY.
In the recorded Deed in 1838 only three children were not living in Galen, Wayne Co., NY; Amy (Mills) Doan/Dove & Rachel (Mills) Aldrich were in Alleghany Co., NY and Isaac, Jr. in Damascus, Wayne Co., PA.Deed Liber 23, pages 439-446.The other children were: Nathaniel, Samuel, Mary (Polly), Esther Mills.
