I'm not sure if we have a connection, but some things are close enough to at least check out.I'm told my great-grandfather was Montgomery "Gum" Mitchell and his family was from Kentucky.You have a birth year of 1861, and that is about right for my "Gum".

I was told he married Frances Burt, a Cherokee Indian from Oklahoma.I don't know if he would have married her in Oklahoma, then moved to Texas, or if they met and married in Texas.I believe my "Gum" lived in DeWitt County.

Three of the children were: Belle, Minnie, and Harrison.I believe there were a couple others, too.

Does any of this line up with your "Gum"??
