I spent about two weeks looking for the elusive Pierre Leduc and Charlotte Sauvagesse. At about the correct time Pierre Leduc of Makinac had his daughter baptized in Makinac 1 Oct 1758. His son about two years reference the 1 Oct 1758 date had been baptized two months previously. On 21 May 1758 Pierre Leduc had married Agathe (Anne) Amiot dit Villeneuve. There was also an adult Indian woman about the correct age baptized with the Christian name Charlotte. Indian woman named Charlotte later married another man. The priest at the time did not keep good records of deaths and his notations are a bit convoluted. There was a smallpox epidemic and there were many deaths at the time. Then I also found a note stating that Pierre Leduc of Makinac “was reported to have died” ” shortly after getting married in 1758.
I find it interesting that there is Pierre Leduc with a daughter whose name is Charlotte Leduc dit Souligny and her mother’s name is Charlotte being married in 1771 in Windsor. And that there is a Pierre Leduc of Makinac whose daughter’s name is Charlotte and both with the same approximate dates of birth.
