Cornelius Mohr born 1822

I'm trying to connect Cornelius Mohr, born 1822 in Germany to John H Mohr, born 1829 in Germany. John married Catherine Mary Dau, born 1831. Cornelius was married to Cecilia Toaspern, born 1828.
It seems there is a marriage down the line and so I am interested in the ancestral connection. From what I have gathered, John's granddaughter Alfred Mohr, married Cornelius' son William Mohr.
I believe that Cornelius and John are perhaps brothers. Both came to New Orleans around 1852. John ended up in Davenport, Iowa and Cornelius in San Francisco and then the East Bay area. I'd love to hear from anyone who can shed more light on the connection between families. Thank you!
