Regarding the Monnett Family Genealogy book-I would urge extreme caution when using the book.I have discovered on several occassions when using the book that its best to take the information and verify its resources. We have found that certain liberties were taken, either intentional or otherwise, that make certain events impossible, or at least doubtful.
The book was written by my great grandfather's cousin, who might have buried certain aspects of the family history in order to make it more presentable. In the case of my Great Great Grandfather John Thomas Monnett (uncle of the author) there are considerable questions regarding the date of his marriages, and the date of my great grandfather's birth (which occurred several months before the parents married!).Such is life!
The book is in limited supply -- and its size and age make it difficult to use effectivly with copy machines.Family Tree Maker hijacked the rights by exploiting the expired copyright and they sell selected pages in its mid-atlantic CD.Beware of people who claim to be selling a copy of the book.Originals (in good to excellent condition) were selling in the $3,000 to $5,000 dollar range a few years ago.
Good luck!
