Ephraim Moody, son of John Thompson, 1836-1927
Ephraim Moody, was my second great grandfather. It took me years to trace what happened to him. Initially all I had was that he "went mining" after the civil war and never came home.
He was born 22 Feb 1836 at Medina [mis-spelled Anadiah] County, Ohio. He married Amanda Sarah Bixby on 21 Nov 1858 at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. My great grandmother, Clara Moody was born 22 Mar 1860 at West Salem, La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Ephraim was wounded at the third battle of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. When he was discharged from hospital in 1865 he headed to the silver mines in the Montana Territory.
He was divorced from Amanda by 1870.
He married Rosetta T. (?) and she received his Civil War pension. Ephraim died on 19 Mar 1927 at Sierra City California as a retired gold miner. Ephraim and Rosetta were buried at the Sierra City Cemetery.
I believe Rosetta was first married to Wilbert Louis Morris and their daughter Maud Morris married Louis Oakes in 1907 in Colorado. Their two sons, Samuel Finnis Oakes and Wilbert L Oakes were living with Rosetta and Ephraim Moody in 1910 at Slate Range, Yuba, California.
I would love to meet Rosetta's family but she is very hard to find records for.
