Re: Joseph Morgan c.1740-1801
Joseph ofSC sold land to his brother William of Cumberlamd NC on both sides of Cabin Creek 100 A for 20 pounds, Proven by George Morgan,Abstracts of deeds of Cumberland Book 6-Page 296
Mary, Solomon Margin Abstracts of deeds of Cumberland BK 4-Page 420 Some of this family went to GA They are in group 7 of the Morgan DNA and are related to Asa Morgan's of Pasquotank (maybe Quakers). I find Asa in Cumberland and on the Tax list of Pasquotank 1769 and again in Alabama. The Ga line of Morgan's, there is a William H Morgan in Jackson, Oplethorpe co GA his father is William who married Mary Shelton in Chatham NC. In Jackson co GA Dtr Penelope applyed for Rev War Pension 1853 stating her father was son Wm and Joyce Morgan.
Some in this line went to TN, KY, Alabama, Texas where many were killed by Indians attacking there wagon train near Waco, but a George Morgan line in Wilcox, Alabama stayed behind and later went to Texas where a family member I am told, James Morgan of Houston built his fortune in the shipyards. His wife was Celia Harrell of Birtie, NC. There is lots of information on your line of Morgan's. There is also a James Morgan of Rowan born 1789 on Cabin Ck I guess a brother to Joseph. This line of Morgan's traveled as I believe on was a preacher.
