In your research of your links in Hardin Co KY, have you found anything about the NYers selling or trading their land in the east for land in the "barrens" of KY, owned by Gideon Granger and/or his son Francis Granger. My source indicates that Gideon Granger had land obtained in Ohio and KY that he sold and/traded to farmers in NY. They moved after the summerless 1816 of that NY area down the Ohio into KY and Ohio. Also, did any of your links-Fords and Morrisons- married into the families I mentioned that moved with the Smiths? It seems that my line of Smiths eventually ended up in LaRue Co, but the early Smiths married before leaving NY or married in Hardin? Let me know about Granger references or land deals references in Hardin and/or marriages to Smiths and/or families from Ontario Co NY.
