I am interested in knowing more about John M. and Nancy Ann (Scarbough)Morton.
I am new in researching this family, starting while I have been working on joining the Daughters of the Republic of
Texas (DRT).I am a descendant of their's thru.their son
Jesse and Pricilla (Killion) Morton, Jesse's son Levi Morton and Nancy Jane (Robinson) Morton of Melrose, Nacogdoches Co., Texas. My grandmother was Malittia Jane Morton, dau. of Levi and Nancy Jane. (I have a picture of Levi and Nancy. and of Malitta Jane.) Malitta married John Oscar Williams in Nacogdoches, Tx.
One of the questions is about Jesse and Pricilla. They
died so young.Jesse, 1815-1856 and Pricilla 1813-1860
with him dying at 41 and Pricilla at 47.They only had
4 children I have found, Wiley T., James G., Levi, and Jesse T.
My mother said she had a grandfather that died in New
Orleans and I wondered if Jesse was the one that died there. She never told me what battle or when it happened,
War of 1812 or the Civil War, so it doesn't sound as if
it is Jesse.
