Re: Marshall Morton family NOT of John Morton Jr. son of John and Jane Peden Morton
Lisa, I made a mistake on the date of the marriage. This is what I have, not saying it is correct.
Jesse A. Morton, born in Pendleton, Anderson Co., SC in 1811,(I did send for proof of birth, not rec'd yet.)
Mar'd Pricella Killion on 12 Jul 1835 or 36 in Blount, AL
familysearch.org Indexed Project (Batch)No.M59311-6, System
Origin: Alabama-EASy, GSFilm No. 1034797.
This is a maybe: I will have to find if it is true. Jesse
could have fought with the Texas Army when Z.Taylor attac'd
Monterey, MX. in this Com. only over 70 odd men from Nacogdoches Co. went by ship in the Gulf and and went by ft. to Mont'ry only 47 came back, and very sick. If he was missing on the 1850 Nacdg.TX census, we could dig to see if he did attend. He showed up for his death in 1856...
Jesse received land certificate, 514, & 518.I do not know who the Levi was,Jesse's Levi was not born until 1847.
This Levi rec'd cert.513. John M. rec'd abstract 521. I contacted the land office in Austin, Jesse's came in two
seperate absts. It had the co. as Burnett, but the man there said the surveyor was from Burnett. His land was in
East TX. (I will comment on John M. next memo.)
