Mosby-Singleton link?
A Mr. Tom Land posted the following here some years ago:
"I'm a Singleton researcher and have always wondered where the middle name came from. The entry regarding his name by his mother, "I have named him John Singleton after your old man and his grandpapa. He claims a present from both for his name." was written to her husband's Alfred's brother John's wife. I have found no information about John Mosby's spouse or mother of John and Alfred. As you send out information regarding his lineage I would like to be copied PLEASE. Perhaps we can solve this mystery. "
I would also like to solve it.My family had estates in Fauquier county (Upperville, near Warrenton)from circa 1635-1863 and in fact initially arrived in VA the same year as the original American Mosby (1635). My father has always believed there to be a family connection but have been unable to track it down genealogically. Any info would be most welcome and appreciated.Thanks.
