During the few years that I have been researching my Family, I have looked into several leads about the Ham, Ivey and Moss Family’s. After I deciphered the 1850 Williamson, Tennessee enumerators mistake in spelling the Ham surname as he did (Haw) and the transcriber following along and spelled it as he did (Haw), I deciphered the name was actually Ham. After the correction was made, the rest of the family fell into place. I found Mary E Ham, b.1845 in Williamson, Tennessee. Her Death certificate provided me with her Fathers’ surname (called Miss Ham) and her Mother’s surname (called Miss Ivey). To me resulted in Ham and Ivey. After that fell into place, I was given a notice that the Ivey of that marriage was a second marriage from an Abram McClellan Moss that produced a child named Newton J Moss that can be located via the 1850 Williamson, Tennessee census living with John S Ham and wife Rebecca, children, one of which is Mary E. .
Message below is about Moss.
I believe your Rebecca is the daughter of Frederick & Mary Linton Ivey. "The Linton Family of Linton, Tennessee" by Sarah Foster Kelly" covers this family. This is what she has about Rebecca. No. 18, Rebecca Ivy, born 9/15/1808, died 6/9/1893, the daughter of Frederick & Mary (Polly) Linton Ivy, married (1) Abram McClellan Moss, born 4/17/1812, died 7/19/1835, *-*-*-*-*-*-*-* in Williamson County, Tn. on 3/24/1834 and had a son, Newton Jasper Moss (#53) below. After Abram Moss's death, Rebecca Ivey Moss married in Williamson County, TN., on 4/21/1840 to John S. Ham, born 12/1/1818, died 2/27/1885 and had children #53 through #60 below. John S. and Rebecca Ivy Moss Ham are buried at Scott Cemetery in Cheatham County, Tennessee.
