Mack Motsinger's other name

I think tha Mack was a nick-name for Matthew A. Motsinger who was the son of Jefferson & Elizabeth.I found a census record for M. A. & wife Sarah.One of their children was a daughter named Marietta--Etta.Will be entering this information into my tree on Rootsweb and also will be requesting Mack's marriage record to see if family was identified or if birth date was entered.
