Re: Muhl-Stumpfel Austria-U.S.A.
Ron,I also have a Muhl/Stumpfel connection from the town of Kemeten (Burgenland) Austria.
Matthew and Mary Muel, born about 1835 in Kemeten, had a daughter, Marie, who married Martin Stumpfel about 1887, presumably in Kemeten. They had four children:
Matthew- born 7 Nov 1888
Theresa Marie born 7 Jul 1893- my grandmother
Gustave born 6 Nov 1897
Mary 17 Oct 1901
They emigrated to the US in 1902. They sailed on the HANOVER from Breman, sailing in April 1902, and arriving in Baltimore. There were other Stumpfels in Baltimore, I understand, but Martin setteled with his family in Pittsburgh (Allegheny) PA.
I would be thrilled to learn of the Muel's and Stumpfels in Kemeten, if you have any information. Have you been able locate birthor baptismal records?
Your name sounds familiar. Have you found the Burgenland Bunch, a group that facilitate genealogy from the Burgenland area of Austria?
I would like to know how your Joseph Stumpfel connects with my Martin. I understand the Stumpfels' were bakers, and that most the them were related to each other.
Anxious to hear form you.
