Thanks again for the wonderfully detailed information.Emma went to Oregon with her husband, Charles O. Hurlburt, ca 1890.He drowned near Eugene in 1891, and she returned to Shenandoah, Iowa, with her three small children, Nellie, Jesse and Mayrilla.I had often wondered why she returned to Shenandoah rather than staying with her husband's family in Oregon.I now know that her Mother, Ocie Morgan Mulford, was alive and living in Page County (Shenandoah's county) at the time.So that probably answers the question, Why the return to Iowa?
