That sounds like it could be right. The ancestor I am researching is Walter Van Rensselaer. He was from Albany, but he moved to Kingston (Ulster) right before the Civil War to practice medicine. He continually refers to her as "Cousin Ell" so I am trying to find out what the link is. I have a Van Rensselaer genealogy and I can't find anything about a Mulford. In your research, have you found anything that might shed some light?

I have several problems with this mystery...
1) Mulford could be her married or her maiden name.
2) She could be from either Albany or Ulster county.
3) I have no idea how old she was in regards to him.

Are there any Mulford genealogies or anything similiar?
