Stuck at John Leroy Mulford/father of Samuel L. Ohio origins
I've been researching my husband's Mulford ancestors, on my own, for several years. I have used documents in hand and pictures with dates and names, and verbal family history from those now deceased. Also, I've done considerable looking on internet genealogy search sites. I also was given a multipage typed document from Aunt Carrie (m: Joseph, son of Thomas, grandson of Samuel L.),deceased in 2006 at 97 y/o. She had purchased this document about 10 years before giving to me from an Ed Mulford (no further info about him on document. I had put this away for many years and just got out when I started my genealogy hunt. Some information, from Samuel L. Mulford (d:1923, IA, married to Rachael Ann Mann) forward is info that I can document. (My husband, Michael E., is g grandson of Samuel & Rachael). Also lists Samuel's parents as John Mulford & Mary Lemar. I can find that also. Except: there are a lot of John mulfords online (I have 2 myself!) I finaly found a tree that is on Lemar/Rose side and lists John "Leroy" Mulford as Samuel's father. But, that's where I'm stuck and have been. Frustrating!
Here's a quick list of what I KNOW and can document..
Thomas C. m Ellen Myers (parents of my father-in- law, John Francis b:1914, D: 1993)
Thomas' parents were Samuel L. (born in Ohio) & Rachael Ann Mann
Samuel's parents were John Leroy Mulford & Mary Lemar (Rose family tree info).
Family I have so far started in Xenia Ohio area, then Samuel moved by covered wagon into Iowa, several stops, ending up near Audubon IA. But don't know what happened to John Leroy and Mary Lemar. ?Dead, stayed in Ohio with another child?
I realize this is long, but I hope someone can dig through it and help me out. I also have items to share with anyone interested in this line: The above mentioned typed history (but have found errors & omissions). I have a vintage family picture of Samuel & Rachael in their elderly years with all of their adult children, except one who died young of course. Original was passed to Aunt Carrie from Thomas & Ellen. She make copy for me and identified all siblings.
I'll be checking postings to see if anyone can help me. Thanks. Janet L. Cook Mulford
