Mulfords of Elizabeth NJ, Hamptons, Capt Thos 1750 - Thos 1780 relation?

I have in my tree, a Phebe Mulford of Elizabethtown NJ, born 1812 who married my 3xgreat grandfather Elihu Price, Jr.Her parents were John Mulford and Catherine Watkins, and her grandparents were Capt Thomas Mulford b. abt 1750 and Phebe.

Phebe Mulford's sister in law, Anna Price, married Mahlon Mulford b. 1815.He is the son of Thomas Mulford b. 1780 and Elizabeth Potter of Pluckemin.I found two sources with info of the Mulfords but nothing connecting the two families (if there is one.)The sources I found were:
Acts of the Legislature of the State of NJ pg 100, 101, (issue of Samuel Potter) and Family Records of the first settlers of Passaic Valley…by John Littell, 1851.

I guess it's just plain curiousity to link the two Mulford families...nothing more.If anyone has info out there that will help, I'm all ears (or eyes.)
